Overview

Sara Hunemiller brings a compassionate and client-centered approach to her work as a Family Law attorney. Admitted to practice in Minnesota and Missouri, Sara is dedicated to helping families navigate complex and emotional legal issues with empathy and professionalism.

Sara earned her Juris Doctor from the University of St. Thomas School of Law, where she gained practical experience through the Community Justice Project Legal Clinic and clerkships focusing on family law. Her work included drafting pleadings, conducting discovery, preparing clients and witnesses for hearings, and advocating for domestic violence survivors.

Sara received a 2021 Mission Award from St. Thomas Law—specifically, the Scholarly Engagement and Societal Reform Award—for her research and advocacy efforts on “Knock First MN,” which focused on no-knock warrant reform. At her commencement, she was also recognized for completing 199 hours of public service, reflecting her deep commitment to making a positive impact on families and communities.

Before joining the firm, Sara worked as a Family Law Clerk at prominent firms in Los Angeles and Minnesota. She developed her skills by managing case calendars, preparing trial materials, and facilitating sensitive client interactions. Sara's background also includes legislative research and advocacy, reflecting her passion for improving legal systems that impact families.

Sara holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies with a minor in Psychology from Iowa State University. Her unique academic and professional journey equips her to provide thoughtful and strategic counsel to clients during challenging times.

Prenuptial and Postnuptial Agreements: Drafting and reviewing agreements that outline financial arrangements before or after marriage.

Domestic Violence Issues: Securing restraining orders to protect clients from domestic violence.
Providing legal support for victims of domestic abuse.

Paternity Matters: Determining and establishing paternity rights and responsibilities.

Mediation and Alternative Dispute Resolution: Facilitating negotiations and settlements outside of court.

Post-Judgment Modifications: Modifying court orders related to custody, support, or visitation.

Grandparents’ Rights: Advocating for visitation or custody rights for grandparents.
